Yoga is a philosophy of living that was developed centuries ago to help humans realize our true nature. It is quite simply much more than exercise for the body, as has been popularized here in the west. While many people start with asana, which is the movements and positioning of the body, as their introduction to Yoga, the true wealth of Yoga lies in its ability to transform every aspect of your life through the practice of presence and detachment from our suffering.

This transformation begins when we start to look at how our own human mind works.

As human life has gone on and evolved, our world has become ever more complicated and busier. As a result, most modern people experience very full, fast minds (day and night) and very tense bodies.

This leads to many disturbances of our minds, bodies, and lives. Restlessness, insomnia, adrenal burnout, body pain, general discontentment, anxiety, depression, lack of peace and self-acceptance are only a few of the common disturbances people experience.

Traditional Yoga takes you into a meditative parasympathetic state where you can experience your mind, breath, and body as one.
In this state, your body will naturally release tension easily and become relaxed and your mind will be more capable of stillness, quiet reflection, and focused attention. You will feel more peace and contentment after a practice.

Yoga is traditionally practiced as a lifestyle and/or a spiritual practice for millions of people around the world.

My classes offer simple asana, breathwork, and meditation in small groups, typically between 3 and 6 people for an easeful and intimate experience. Private Yoga coaching is also available.
**For the students who want to deepen their practice and incorporate some ayurveda into their life, I have dinacharya body oils and ayurvedic herbal tonics available which support you at home to enhance your health and yoga practice. Please ask me about how to incorporate these into your practice when you come in for class.**
